Man Who Died in Police Custody in Largo, Md. Identified

In a recent incident in Prince George’s County, Maryland, the Maryland Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has identified the man who tragically died in police custody in Largo, Md. The incident took place in the 10700 block of Lake Arbor Way, where officers responded to a call about a suspicious person knocking on people’s doors at around 7:45 p.m.

Details of the Incident

Upon arriving at the scene, an officer encountered a man in the roadway who then proceeded to walk onto a nearby lawn and lay down. Concerned for his well-being, the officers placed the man in handcuffs to take him to the hospital for evaluation. However, the situation took a turn for the worse as the man went into medical distress while in custody.

Despite the officers’ immediate aid and the medics taking over resuscitation efforts, the man was tragically pronounced dead on the scene shortly after.

Identity of the Deceased

The man who lost his life in this unfortunate incident has been identified as 61-year-old Joseph Holmes from Clinton, Md. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.

Officers Involved

The officers involved in the incident have been named as Corporal Alyssa Tomaselli, Corporal Mark Price, and Officer Marvin Marks, all of whom are assigned to the Bureau of Patrol in the Prince George’s County Police Department. Additionally, Officer Andre Brooks from the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) Police Department was present at the scene.
