A sheriff’s deputy from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania has been arrested in Wildwood, New Jersey on charges related to child pornography. James Christopher Buckley, 57, of Gilbertsville, is facing two counts of endangering the welfare of a child through possession and distribution of child pornography.
Investigation and Arrest
The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which identified Buckley as the individual allegedly involved in the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material through his iCloud account.
The incident took place at Buckley’s vacation residence in Wildwood, New Jersey. He was taken into custody on Tuesday and is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending a court hearing.
Response from Authorities
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department has suspended Buckley in light of the charges. Sheriff Sean Kilkenny expressed his disappointment, stating, “The conduct outlined in these charges goes against the values of our agency and erodes the public’s trust. We are committed to serving and protecting the residents of Montgomery County.”
