Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Details of the Incident in Ponca City

Zane Sidney Stanton, a 27-year-old resident of Tonkawa, is currently being held at the Kay County Detention Center on a bond of $100,000. He was arrested in connection to a shooting that took place on February 2 in the 300 block of Virginia in Ponca City.

According to reports from the Ponca City police, the incident occurred at 5:31 p.m. when officers responded to a call about two gunshot victims in the area. Upon arrival, Stanton was found in the street with a bleeding left arm, while a female was holding the head of the second shooting victim, Isiah Fish, who was bleeding from the neck.

Eye-witness Accounts

Officer Eric Welch reported that Stanton confessed to shooting Fish because he had punched him in the face. The female present at the scene, who is Stanton’s ex-girlfriend, revealed that she had been living with Fish at the residence on Virginia. According to her, Stanton arrived, pulled out a gun, and a scuffle ensued between the two men, resulting in the gun firing twice.

Stanton was later questioned at the hospital, where he claimed that he was talking to the female when Fish suddenly attacked him, knocking him to the ground. In self-defence, Stanton fired two shots, one of which hit Fish in the neck. Stanton expressed remorse, stating, “I was like oh God what did I do,” as he tried to help the injured Fish.

Legal Proceedings

Stanton is currently being held on probable cause at the county jail, with an initial court appearance scheduled for March 1. The details of the incident are still under investigation by the authorities as they piece together the events that led to the shooting on that fateful day in Ponca City.
