On Monday, police in Buena Park apprehended a suspect linked to a shooting that took place outside a 99 Cents Only store in Santa Ana. The incident occurred on Sunday night, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Details of the Shooting

At approximately 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, authorities from the Santa Ana Police Department rushed to St. Joseph Hospital in Orange after receiving reports of a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to his forearm. The victim informed police that he had been in his friend’s car parked next to the discount store on 1514 North Main Street when he suddenly heard gunshots. It was then that he realised he had been hit by a bullet, according to Officer Natalie Garcia.

Witnesses at the scene recounted seeing a male suspect fleeing the area in a white Ford Explorer. As of Monday, it remained unclear whether the victim was the intended target or if the shooter had a different motive.

Arrest of the Suspect

The Buena Park Police Department succeeded in locating the suspect’s vehicle the following day, leading to a traffic stop by Santa Ana police officers as the vehicle was leaving the area. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Johnell Marquise Jackson, was subsequently taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and other firearm-related offences, stated Officer Garcia.
