The Discovery of a Deceased Male in Rock River

On Sunday afternoon, a tragic discovery was made in the Rock River when a body was found floating in the water. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased individual as a 60-year-old man named Larry Sanford from Rockford.

Emergency Response to the Scene

First responders were alerted to the situation around 3 p.m. in the area of Indian Terrace in Rockford. Both Rockford Police and Rockford Fire personnel quickly arrived on the scene. Fire department personnel bravely entered the river and confirmed that the body was that of a deceased adult male. They promptly removed the body from the water, and the Coroner’s office staff officially pronounced the man dead at 3:35 p.m.

Autopsy and Ongoing Investigation

An autopsy has since been conducted, but the preliminary results are currently pending further studies. The investigation into Larry Sanford’s death is being led by the Rockford Police Department as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
