The Unusual Journey of a Father and Daughter in China

A man in China decided to take a different approach when it came to travelling with his 7-year-old daughter. Instead of facing the usual traffic jams, he turned into a pilot and flew a two-seater plane to take his daughter to their hometown. This unconventional mode of transport not only saved time but also provided a unique experience for the father-daughter duo.

The man, identified as Wang, has been practicing this unique form of travel for years, especially during festivals and holidays. As a trainer of pilots from eastern China’s Anhui province, Wang has the expertise to fly his two-seater aircraft with ease.

According to reports from the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Wang mentioned that it takes him three hours to reach his hometown by road, but only 50 minutes by plane. This not only saves time but also allows his daughter to enjoy a peaceful nap during the journey.

The Logistics of Flying to Home

In order to make this unconventional journey possible, Wang has to apply in advance to use the flying route and get permission to park at a nearby flying camp close to his parents’ home. The cost of his small aircraft is approximately 1.1 million yuan (US$155,000), and it can cover a distance of nearly 1,200 km on a full tank of fuel.

The news of Wang’s unique mode of transportation quickly spread on Douyin, a popular Chinese social media platform. Many users expressed their admiration for Wang’s choice, with some even envying the adventurous journey.

One user commented, “What I consider a luxury childhood dream is someone else’s real life,” while another added, “What a brilliant way to avoid Spring Festival traffic jams.” The positive response from netizens highlighted the novelty and efficiency of Wang’s flying escapades.
