Accident – Death – Obituary News : DEHRADUN: A shocking revelation has emerged in the case of the Haldwani riots that took place on February 8. It has now been confirmed by the police that a 25-year-old man, previously believed to be a casualty of the violence, was actually murdered by a police constable. The victim, identified as Prakash Kumar, hailing from Sinha village in Barhara block of Bhojpur district in Bihar, was allegedly killed by constable Birendra Singh. The motive behind the murder was Kumar’s involvement in an extra-marital affair with Singh’s wife and his attempt to blackmail her with a video they had recorded together.
According to Nainital SSP Prahlad Meena, Kumar’s murder was a part of a conspiracy orchestrated by Singh and four other individuals, including his wife and brother-in-law. The investigation into Kumar’s records from his mobile phone revealed the plot. As a result, the death toll in the Haldwani violence has been reduced to five.
Meena stated, “Kumar’s communication history showed frequent contact with a person from Sitarganj in Udham Singh Nagar district. We traced him and identified him as Singh’s brother-in-law Suraj Bain. During questioning, Bain admitted to being friends with Kumar for over two years, with Kumar often visiting his home.” It was during this time that Kumar entered into an illicit relationship with Bain’s sister Priyanka and recorded an intimate video with her, which he then used to blackmail her for money.
“On February 7, Priyanka finally revealed the existence of the video to her husband, Singh. Upon learning about it, Singh asked Priyanka to lure Kumar to Haldwani on February 8. When Kumar arrived, Singh confronted him about the video, which ultimately led to Kumar’s murder as part of a premeditated plan involving Singh’s wife Priyanka, brother-in-law Bain, and two others identified as Prem Singh and Naim Khan,” Meena explained.
After killing Kumar, Singh disposed of his body in the Banphoolpura area, making it appear as if he was a victim of the ongoing violence in Haldwani. Meena added, “Priyanka is currently evading capture. All the accused individuals are facing charges of murder under IPC Section 302.”
