In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, a man and woman have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of James Avila in Pomona. The Pomona Police Department made the announcement on Thursday, Feb. 15, revealing new details about the case.

The incident occurred on Monday, Jan. 29, around 11:56 PM, at the 900 block of Holt Avenue in Pomona. The Pomona Police Department swiftly responded to reports of a shooting in the area, and upon arrival, officers discovered James Avila, a 35-year-old man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and Avila was immediately transported to the hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Avila tragically succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Following an intensive investigation, the Pomona Police Department identified the individuals believed to be responsible for Avila’s death. Armando Wardle, a 29-year-old man, and Mayan Ayala, a 28-year-old woman, both residents of Pomona, were apprehended on Friday, Feb. 9.

Ayala was subsequently booked into the Century Regional Detention Center, where she remains held on a staggering $2 million bail. Meanwhile, Wardle was booked into the North County Correctional Facility with no bail, according to information provided by the Los Angeles County Booking Information.

Despite the progress made in the investigation, the Pomona Police Department has not yet released the motive behind the killing of James Avila. The community has been left in shock and is eagerly awaiting further updates from the authorities.
