The Ghana Police Service Investigates Murder Incident in Ashaiman

The Ghana Police Service has released a statement regarding the tragic murder of a 47-year-old man in Ashaiman, a suburb located in the Greater Accra Region.

In an official communication dated Friday, February 16, 2024, the police confirmed that they have initiated an investigation into the death of Eric Baidoo, who was reportedly stabbed by unknown assailants on Thursday.

The police statement reads, “The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the untimely demise of a 47-year-old male individual in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region.

“The deceased, identified as Eric Baidoo, a trader, was allegedly attacked and fatally stabbed by a perpetrator who is currently at large, on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

“The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and further examination,” the police added.

A delegation led by the Tema Regional Commander has visited the family of the deceased to offer condolences and assure them of a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice.

“An intelligence-led operation is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrator(s) and ensure that they face the full force of the law,” the police statement continued.

Initial reports had falsely claimed that the deceased was a soldier, causing distress among residents of Ashaiman. However, this misinformation has now been clarified.
