Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Identified

On February 5, 2024, tragedy struck in Southeast Portland as a pedestrian lost their life in a hit-and-run crash. The victim has been identified as Edward Hanson, aged 44. The family of the deceased has been notified of this heartbreaking loss.

Suspect Driver Apprehended

Shortly after the fatal incident at the intersection of Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Flavel Street, the suspect driver, Skyler Lee-Stiles, 26, was taken into police custody. Lee-Stiles faces serious charges including Criminally Negligent Homicide, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver (Death), and Tampering with Evidence. His vehicle has been seized as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

According to authorities, Lee-Stiles was speeding through a work zone when he struck the pedestrian who was crossing Southeast 82nd Avenue mid-block. The reckless actions of the driver have resulted in a tragic loss of life and a family left to grieve.

The Portland Police Bureau is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
