Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Arden Hills, MN (KROC-AM News) – In a tragic incident this morning, the State Patrol has confirmed that alcohol was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on a Twin Cities freeway, resulting in at least one fatality.

The devastating crash occurred at approximately 8:45 AM on westbound I-694 at the Snelling Avenue interchange in Arden Hills. According to the State Patrol, the collision involved a car, minivan, and a semi-truck.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the minivan was traveling west on I-694 when it suddenly veered from the right lane to the left shoulder. As it spun out, a car was entering the freeway from Snelling Avenue. The minivan then careened through the ditch and collided with the westbound car.

This collision caused the car to slide sideways onto the left lane of I-694, directly into the path of the oncoming semi-truck. The impact was devastating, particularly on the driver’s side of the smaller vehicle.

The occupants of the car, a 76-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman from New Brighton, tragically lost their lives in the crash. The State Patrol has withheld their names, indicating the severity of their injuries.

Identified as the driver of the minivan, 31-year-old Luis Tipantuna from Minneapolis, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment. The State Patrol’s report on Tipantuna indicates alcohol involvement.

The driver of the semi-truck, 68-year-old Steve Silva from Washington state, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
