A tragic incident unfolded in Huron County as a deadly single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 37-year-old Shane Webb from Willard. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred on Monday, June 17, around 11:27 p.m. on West River Road in Wakeman.

According to officials, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler travelling southbound on West River Road veered off the right side of the roadway, striking a culvert storm drain cover. The Jeep then became airborne, overturning several times before hitting a large raised flower bed, fence post, and tree. The vehicle finally came to rest in a private driveway off the west side of West River Road. Tragically, Webb, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the Jeep and sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
In a press release, the Ohio State Highway Patrol stated that initial investigations suggest that alcohol, drugs, and speed were likely contributing factors to the crash. The authorities were assisted by the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Wakeman Fire Department, Wakeman Police Department, Citizens Ambulance, and Interstate Towing at the scene of the incident.
