Two Men Arrested for Alleged Murder in Lagos
Two men, self-identified as scavengers, have been arrested by the police in Lagos State over the alleged murder of a man identified only as Friday. The incident occurred in the Ilemba Hausa area of the state, where the suspects were reportedly involved in a theft activity that ultimately led to the fatal confrontation.

The arrests were confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command. According to Mr Hundeyin, the incident was reported to the Ilemba Hausa Police Division by an individual who witnessed the tragic event unfold.
The report indicated that on a fateful Friday around 11:00 a.m., the complainant heard screams for help coming from his elder brother, Friday, aged 34. Upon rushing to the scene, the complainant found his brother lying in a pool of blood, with two suspects, later identified as Abubakar Haruna, 20, and Mohammed Abdullahi, 18, fleeing from the scene.
Investigations revealed that the suspects, who are scavengers by trade, had allegedly entered an uncompleted building in the neighbourhood to steal roofing sheets. When challenged by the deceased, a fight ensued, leading to the suspects allegedly stabbing Friday on the head with scissors. Despite being rushed to the Navy Hospital Satellite Town, Friday was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
Current Status of the Suspects
Both suspects are currently in police custody as further investigations are being carried out into the murder. The victim’s body has been deposited at a hospital mortuary pending the completion of the investigation.
