North Andover Man and Passenger Injured in Hampton, N.H. Toll Plaza Crash
A North Andover man and a passenger in the car he was driving were injured after crashing into a barrier at the Hampton, N.H., toll plaza on Interstate 95, according to New Hampshire State Police. The incident occurred on Thursday, resulting in serious injuries to the passenger and minor injuries to the driver, identified as 78-year-old Thomas Lynch. Both individuals were taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.

Details of the Crash
The passenger, whose name has not been released, was in critical condition and unresponsive when State Police troopers arrived at the scene. The vehicle involved in the crash was a 2013 Nissan Altima, and due to the damage sustained in the accident, troopers had to break through a rear window to reach the passenger.
Authorities stated that a preliminary investigation revealed Lynch was driving northbound when he lost control of the vehicle. The car struck a concrete traffic barrier in front of the toll booth in the plaza’s fourth lane, causing it to spin before coming to a stop in the middle of the lane. It remains unclear what caused Lynch to lose control, and an investigation into the crash is currently underway.
Response and Closure
In response to the crash, four lanes at the toll plaza were closed for approximately two and a half hours to allow emergency services to clear the scene. The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, along with the Hampton and North Hampton fire and police departments, were among the agencies that responded to the incident.
