Her family filed a case of elopement, but her body was discovered on January 25, just a day after filing the case. Initially, the identification could not be done, leading to an FIR being registered under section 302 (murder) against an unidentified person. The police initiated an investigation and alerted nearby police stations in Shamli, Saharanpur, and Haryana to provide data on missing women.

After waiting 72 hours for any claims, the police preserved the viscera for examination. During the investigation, a route was traced leading to the victim’s village, connecting Saharanpur and Shamli. It is suspected that the perpetrator used this route to transport the body and set it on fire.
