Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigates Drive-By Shootings in Loranger

Over the past weekend, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has been busy investigating two separate drive-by shooting incidents that occurred in the Loranger area. Sheriff Daniel Edwards revealed that the first incident took place on Saturday, May 18, around 11:23 p.m. The victim reported that while driving on Louisiana Highway 40 near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 445, a small red car with tinted windows approached her from behind with hazard lights activated.

Details of the Incidents

The victim, in fear for her safety, pulled over to the side of the road to allow the vehicle to pass. However, instead of passing, the red car pulled in front of her and slowed down. The victim then witnessed a person extending their arm from the front passenger window, brandishing a pistol. The individual fired the weapon twice, seemingly trying to force the victim to stop. Thankfully, the victim managed to speed away unharmed after seeing the muzzle flash.

Just two minutes after the first incident, a second victim reported a similar occurrence on LA-40 east of LA-445. This time, the victim saw an unknown Black man standing near a small red four-door car with its hazard lights on. As the victim passed the vehicle, she heard gunshots and discovered that her own vehicle had been hit. Fortunately, she escaped without injury.
