As of Wednesday, May 22, three men and two women have been killed in various locations throughout the county. Four of the five victims were fatally shot, while the cause of death in the fifth case has not been disclosed. – Unidentified Man, 37: A 37-year-old man from Ypsilanti was shot and killed on Sunday evening in the 100 block of Russell Court in Ypsilanti Township. Another woman, aged 39, was also shot in the leg but is expected to survive. The suspect fled the scene before the authorities arrived, and the investigation is ongoing.
– Unidentified Woman, 73: Police discovered the body of a 73-year-old woman in a shallow grave in her backyard on W. Warner Avenue in Ypsilanti Township. Her grandson, Ronald Fleming (29), has been charged with open murder in connection with her death.
– Nicholas Jernigan, 44: Lamar Parker, 45, fatally shot Nicholas Jernigan (44) during an argument at a prom send-off near Ypsilanti. Parker has been charged with open murder, using a gun during a felony, and being a felon in possession of a weapon and ammunition.
– Donna Marie Johnson, 66: Donna Marie Johnson’s body was found in a bedroom in the 1100 block of Duncan Avenue in Ypsilanti Township. Her husband, Luke Junior Edwards (73), has been charged with open murder.
– Alonzo Hollie, 22: Alonzo Hollie was found dead in a car at the Sauk Trail Pointe Apartments in Ypsilanti. Daniel Lamar Franklin (18) is wanted for his death and has been charged with open murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and using a firearm during a felony.
