Jones identified as Victim of Alleged Serial Killer
The Hamilton County Coroner, Jeff Jellison, made a significant announcement on May 21 regarding the identification of another victim believed to have been killed by alleged serial killer Herb Baumeister at Fox Hollow Farm in Westfield 30 years ago. The human remains discovered at Fox Hollow Farm in 1996 have been positively identified as belonging to Jeffrey A. Jones of Fillmore, who was reported missing in August 1993.

Forensic Genetic Genealogy Investigation
The identification of Jones as a victim was the result of an extensive forensic genetic genealogy investigation carried out by the FBI and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office. This discovery marks the second new victim and the third positive identification to emerge from the renewed investigation into the more than 10,000 remains recovered at Fox Hollow Farm. According to Jellison, there are four additional DNA profiles that have yet to be identified, bringing the total number of victims to 12.
Challenges in the Investigation
Due to the condition in which many of the remains were found – burnt and crushed – the investigation poses significant challenges. However, the team of law enforcement and forensic specialists dedicated to the case remains committed to uncovering the truth. Jellison expressed gratitude towards the FBI, Indiana State Police Laboratory, Dr. Krista Latham of the Biology & Anthropology Department at the University of Indianapolis, and DNA experts from the Othram Laboratory in Texas for their hard work and dedication.
Renewed Effort to Identify Victims
Jellison’s office initiated a renewed effort to identify the remains found at Fox Hollow Farm in 2022. The investigation gained momentum following the suicide of Baumeister in 1996, after more than 10,000 charred and crushed human remains were discovered on his property. The victims, including Jeffrey A. Jones, were last seen at gay bars in the Indianapolis area in the early to mid-90s.
Family Seeks Closure
The University of Indianapolis Anthropology and Archaeology Department played a crucial role in excavating the wooded area behind Baumeister’s estate, where the remains were found. The Livingston family, inquiring about Allen Livingston who had been missing since 1993, reached out to the coroner’s office to determine if he was among Baumeister’s victims. Alongside Jones, Allen Livingston and Manuel Resendez were identified as victims of Baumeister in October 2023.

Call for Information
Jellison urged anyone with missing family members who they suspect may have been victims of Baumeister to come forward for a DNA swab. The total number of victims remains unknown, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation and information sharing in solving this tragic case.
