Late in the evening on Friday, May 17th, 2024, the Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) was alerted to a distressing incident on Delta Waters Rd. in Medford. A frantic 911 call reported a motorcycle crash in the 2700 block of the road, prompting a swift response from Medford police Officers and medical personnel.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers were met with a harrowing sight – two motorcycles had collided, leaving one rider unconscious and another with minor injuries. Despite the valiant efforts of a bystander with medical training who initiated life-saving measures, the unconscious motorcyclist, identified as 39-year-old Benjamin McFarland, tragically could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
