In a recent development on California Avenue in Carmichael, a crash was reported that resulted in the closure of a portion of eastbound Interstate 80. The closure, which occurred near Northgate Boulevard, was due to police activity and caused significant traffic disruptions in the area. However, as of 4:52 PM PDT on May 6, 2024, Caltrans announced that the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 have been reopened.

Traffic expert Brian Hickey provided updates on the situation, confirming that the road has been reopened and traffic is flowing smoothly. The closure had previously led to diversions at Truxel Road, but all lanes are now open for motorists to use.

However, gusty winds are expected midweek, leading to a significant warm-up towards the weekend. Temperatures could reach as high as 90 degrees, marking a drastic change from the current chilly conditions.

In other news, Stanislaus County officials reported that a sheriff’s deputy shot and killed an armed man who was trespassing in the Turlock area. The incident occurred near North Quincy Road and East Monte Vista Avenue, resulting in the man’s death after he charged at the deputies without warning.
