In a disturbing turn of events, a 33-year-old registered sex offender, Solomon Galligan, attempted to kidnap a student at Black Forest Hills Elementary School during recess on Friday. The incident, which unfolded at 25233 E. Glasgow Drive, was captured on security video and quickly reported to the Aurora police Department.

Alleged Kidnapping Attempt

According to an arrest affidavit, Galligan entered the school grounds holding a white blanket and approached a group of children playing outside. He then lunged towards one child in an attempt to grab them, prompting the students to flee in fear. The child reported that Galligan had white powder on his face and smelled of alcohol, adding to the terrifying nature of the encounter.

Aurora police arrived at the scene just after 2:22 p.m. following reports of a suspicious incident at the school. Thanks to the swift actions of the school staff and students, Galligan was deterred from carrying out his alleged kidnapping attempt. The authorities were able to locate Galligan at a nearby Walgreens, where he was initially taken to a hospital before being arrested and booked into the Aurora Detention Center.
