Kyle Young Sentenced to Life in Prison for Double-Murder of Alicia Roman and George Kirksey in Sedgwick County, Kansas

SEDGWICK COUNTY—A man who was apprehended in Mexico is set to serve a life sentence for a double murder in Kansas. This week, Judge Jeff Goering sentenced 37-year-old Kyle Young to life imprisonment, as confirmed by the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office.

In October, Young pleaded guilty to the murder of 22-year-old Alicia Roman and 27-year-old George Kirksey, according to the district attorney’s office.

On the early morning of January 2, 2020, the police responded to a shooting incident at the Hotel at WaterWalk located on the 700 block of South Main in Wichita, as reported by Officer Kevin Wheeler.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of Roman and Kirksey, both of whom had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, as revealed by Wheeler.

The subsequent investigation unveiled that Roman and Kirksey were inside a hotel room when Young, the identified suspect, entered and fired several shots, fatally injuring them before fleeing the scene.

Six months later, investigators tracked down Young in Mexico and made an arrest, according to Wheeler.

Court documents indicate that Young became enraged when his former girlfriend moved on and found a new partner. Following his conviction, Young will be eligible for parole after serving 100 years.
