Memphis, Tennessee – The U.S. Marshals Service, in collaboration with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team, successfully apprehended 24-year-old Jorge Estrada-Gutierrez, a murder suspect from Louisiana, in Memphis yesterday. Estrada-Gutierrez was wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in Metairie, Louisiana on Christmas Eve.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, they responded to reports of gunfire in a Metairie neighborhood on December 24, 2023. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a man with gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead. Estrada-Gutierrez was identified as a suspect, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for second-degree murder and obstruction of evidence.
Following a lead that Estrada-Gutierrez was in the Memphis area, the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District NOLA Task Force requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Memphis to further investigate the case. Yesterday, both teams went to an apartment complex on Central Avenue and Lamar Avenue, where Estrada-Gutierrez surrendered to authorities without incident or injury. He is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail, awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
