Tragic Loss: 10-Year-Old Boy Among Six Killed in Tennessee Tornadoes
A devastating series of tornadoes tore through Tennessee on Saturday, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming the lives of six people, including a 10-year-old boy named Arlan Burnham. The powerful EF-3 tornado struck Clarksville, a town in Montgomery County, where Arlan and his family lived.

Arlan’s mother, Katherine, took to Facebook to share the heartbreaking news. She described how their two-story home was in the direct path of the tornado, resulting in the loss of their son and their entire house. Arlan’s older sister was also trapped under the debris, but a brave neighbor managed to rescue her.
The tragedy extended beyond the Burnham family. Joseph Dalton, Floridema Gabriel Perez, and Perez’s two-year-old son, Anthony Elmer Mendez, lost their lives in the Nashville area. Two other adults who died in Clarksville have not yet been named. Additionally, 83 people were injured, with 23 currently receiving treatment at local hospitals.
In response to this devastating loss, a GoFundMe page has been set up to support the Burnham family. Donations have poured in, surpassing the initial goal of $5,000 and reaching over $73,000. These contributions will be used to help the family rebuild their home and cover funeral expenses for Arlan.
The community has been urged to assist in other ways as well, with clothing donations requested for the family. Arlan, a fourth-grader at West Creek Elementary School, was known for his vibrant spirit and love for learning.

The tornadoes not only claimed lives but also caused significant damage to homes and businesses across multiple cities. Hail the size of quarters battered the area, trees were uprooted, and power lines were knocked down. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts expressed his condolences and declared a state of emergency.
Governor Bill Lee and his wife, Maria, extended their prayers to all those affected by the storms. The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings and plans to survey the area where an apparent tornado hit in Kentucky.
As the community begins the healing process and rebuilds, the Burnham family and others affected by this tragedy will rely on the support and generosity of their fellow Tennesseans. Together, they will find the strength to overcome and rebuild their lives in the wake of this heartbreaking event.
