In a tragic incident that occurred 28 days ago, the body of a 35-year-old woman has finally been identified through a DNA test and returned to her grieving family. The deceased, Puspanjali Das, hailed from Niladripur village in Kendrapara and met her untimely demise when a bus she was traveling on caught fire near Kharagpur while en route to her village from Kolkata. Sadly, Das was unable to escape the flames and was burnt alive.
Due to the severity of the fire, the body was severely charred, making identification impossible. As a result, the district administration of Paschim Medinipur took the initiative to conduct DNA and other forensic tests on samples collected from the remains in order to determine its identity.

The news of the identification has brought both relief and despair to Puspanjali’s family.
