Body of 30-year-old woman found in decomposed state at rented apartment in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar

New Delhi, India – The body of a 30-year-old woman was discovered in a decomposed state at her rented apartment in Khirki Extension area of Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on Friday evening, according to the police. The deceased has been identified as Saniya Rai.

The police received a PCR call around 7:30 p.m. from the building owner, who reported a foul smell emanating from the apartment. Upon arrival, the police found the apartment locked from inside. After breaking down the door, they found Rai’s body lying on the floor.

Initial investigations have revealed that Rai had been residing in the apartment since July 2022. Although no external injuries were visible on the body, the advanced state of decomposition has made it difficult to determine the cause of death.

In accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 and sent the body for post-mortem examination to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

A case has been registered and further investigation is currently underway, stated the police.
