Former Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has been appointed as the new manager of Olympiacos, making him their sixth head coach in just 16 months. The announcement was made by the club on their official Twitter account, @olympiacosfc.

Carvalhal is a well-known figure in the football world, having managed several clubs in his career. He is perhaps best known for his time at Swansea City, where he guided the team to the Premier League in the 2017-2018 season. However, his tenure at the club was short-lived as he was sacked the following December due to poor results.

After leaving Swansea, Carvalhal took charge of Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship. He led the team to the playoffs in the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons but was unable to secure promotion to the Premier League. He left the club in December 2017 after a string of disappointing results.

Now, Carvalhal has been given another opportunity to prove himself at Olympiacos, one of the most successful clubs in Greek football. The team has a rich history, having won numerous domestic titles and even reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 1998-1999 season.

However, in recent years, Olympiacos has struggled to maintain stability in the managerial position. Carvalhal will be the sixth head coach appointed by the club in just over a year. This constant turnover of managers has undoubtedly contributed to the team’s inconsistent performances on the field.

Fans will hope that Carvalhal can bring some much-needed stability to the club and lead them to success. The Portuguese manager is known for his tactical acumen and ability to work with limited resources, which could prove crucial in a league where Olympiacos faces strong competition from the likes of PAOK and AEK Athens.

Carvalhal himself expressed his excitement about the new challenge, stating, “I am thrilled to be joining Olympiacos. This is a club with a proud history, and I am determined to bring success back to the team. I am confident that, with the support of the players and the fans, we can achieve great things.”

Only time will tell if Carvalhal can turn things around for Olympiacos and establish himself as a long-term manager at the club. For now, fans will eagerly await the start of the new season to see how their new coach fares..
