Malayali nursing student, Fousiya, was tragically strangled to death by her boyfriend in a hotel room in Chennai. The shocking crime took an even more disturbing turn when the boyfriend, identified as M Aashiq, recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone and uploaded it as his Whatsapp status. Fousiya, aged 20 and hailing from Kollam, was a second-year nursing student at Balaji medical college in Chennai.
According to the police, Aashiq and Fousiya had booked a hotel room in Chrompet on Friday. A heated argument ensued, leading Aashiq to use his t-shirt to strangle Fousiya to death. The perpetrator then recorded the gruesome act on his mobile phone and shared it on his Whatsapp status. Some of Fousiya’s friends who saw the distressing video immediately alerted the police. Authorities swiftly arrived at the scene and apprehended Aashiq. Fousiya’s lifeless body was transferred to the government medical college in Chrompet for a postmortem examination.

Investigators also discovered that Aashiq and Fousiya had been married when they were minors. Their child is currently residing in an ashram in Mysore. Aashiq had previously served time in jail under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) act for marrying Fousiya while they were still underage. After his release, Aashiq relocated to Chennai to maintain contact with Fousiya. Reports suggest that the couple had a dispute regarding Aashiq’s involvement with other women, which may have triggered the tragic chain of events.
This horrifying incident highlights the importance of addressing issues related to domestic violence and ensuring the safety of individuals, especially young women. The police’s prompt response and subsequent arrest of the perpetrator demonstrate the authorities’ commitment to bringing justice to the victim and her grieving family.
