One man has been arrested in San Antonio after crashing into another vehicle at high speed, resulting in the deaths of two women. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has identified the driver as Larry James Korus, a 40-year-old man who was driving a high-performance Lexus at nearly 124 mph. The crash occurred just 800 feet away from where Korus eventually came to a stop.

Sheriff Salazar stated that driving at such an excessive speed is akin to wielding a loaded weapon. He compared it to firing a gun down the road, emphasizing the danger posed by a vehicle traveling at such a velocity.

According to the BCSO, Korus was on his way to work when he crashed into the victims’ car, causing their deaths at the scene. The impact was so severe that the victims’ vehicle was thrown a considerable distance and flipped over.

Tragically, Korus had already experienced the loss of a loved one in a similar accident earlier this year. In March, his wife was killed in a Camaro crash on the same stretch of road. Sheriff Salazar remarked that considering this previous tragedy, one could argue that Korus should have known better.

As a result of the crash, Korus now faces two charges of manslaughter. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident to gather more information about the circumstances leading up to the collision.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences that can occur when drivers fail to adhere to speed limits and disregard the safety of others on the road. The Bexar County community mourns the loss of two lives and hopes that this incident will prompt greater awareness and responsibility among drivers.
