Wreath Laying Ceremony Held for Five Army Personnel Killed in Jammu and Kashmir Encounter

The Romeo Force headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district held a wreath laying ceremony for the five Army personnel who lost their lives in an encounter. Senior Army officials paid tribute to the brave soldiers and laid wreaths on their mortal remains.

Today, another wreath laying ceremony will be held at the Military Hospital in Jammu. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, J&K DGP RK Swain, and other senior Army and civil officials will pay their respects to the deceased personnel.

On Wednesday, four Army personnel, including two captains, were killed in the encounter. Three others were injured, and another soldier succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, bringing the total number of casualties to five.

The fallen soldiers have been identified as Captain MV Pranjal, Captain Shubham Gupta, Havildar Abdul Majid, Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht, and Paratrooper Sachin Laur.

The encounter between terrorists and security forces in Rajouri has now ended. Police confirmed that no more terrorists were found in the forest area of Bajimal village in Kalakote tehsil. A significant amount of arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site.

Two terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in the encounter. One of them was a top LeT commander known as Qari. He had been active in the Rajouri-Poonch area with his group since last year and was responsible for reviving terror activities there.

Qari, who was trained in Pakistan and Afghanistan, was the mastermind behind the Dhangri and Kandi twin attacks, which resulted in the deaths of seven civilians and injuries to 14 others. He was an expert in IEDs, hiding in caves, and sniper operations. Security officials have retrieved the bodies of Qari and his associate.

The wreath laying ceremony honors the sacrifice and bravery of the fallen soldiers, while the successful conclusion of the encounter brings relief to the region. The authorities will continue to remain vigilant against any further threats to maintain peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir.
