Two workers were killed and another injured in a tragic incident at an iron ore mine in Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred when the workers were on their way to work at the Aamdai Ghati mine, which is operated by Jayaswal Neco Industries Limited (JNIL). The mine has been a subject of contention with Naxalites opposing the project for some time.
The explosion took place at around 7.30 am on Friday, as the workers came into contact with a pressure improvised explosive device (IED). It is believed that the IED was planted by Naxalites. The blast resulted in the deaths of Ritesh Gagda (21) and Shravan Gagda (24), both residents of Narayanpur district. Shravan’s body was later found at the site of the explosion. The injured worker, Umesh Rana, has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
