Three members of a family tragically lost their lives in a major accident near Kolhapur in the early hours of Thursday. The incident occurred when a speeding sleeper coach, belonging to a private company, overturned while the driver was navigating a turn in the Puikhadi area near Kolhapur city.
According to the police, two individuals died at the scene, while another victim succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Neelu Gautham (43), Ridhima Gautam (17), and Sarthak Gautam (13), all residents of Manjari Budruk.

Additionally, six others sustained injuries in the accident and were promptly taken to the state-run Chhatrapati Pramila Raje Civil Hospital in Kolhapur. Fortunately, four passengers who were trapped under the bus were successfully rescued by the police and fire brigade officials during the early hours of the morning.
“The bus driver lost control while maneuvering a sharp turn near Puikhadi, causing the bus to topple,” stated the Kolhapur police. “Three individuals from a single family tragically lost their lives, and at least six others sustained injuries.”
The injured passengers are currently receiving treatment for their trauma injuries, with their conditions reported to be stable and out of danger.
The accident prompted a swift response from the Kolhapur fire brigade, who worked diligently to rescue the trapped passengers during the crucial first hour after the incident.
