Brooksville Man Arrested for Second-Degree Murder of Unidentified Victim

A man from Brooksville has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a body was found near a Dollar General store in Brooksville, Florida. The incident was reported to the Hernando County deputies on Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m. when a suspicious person was seen at the store on Cortez Boulevard. The caller informed the deputies about the discovery of a body at the back of a dead-end road behind the Dollar General.

Fire officials confirmed that the body was in the early stages of decomposition, suggesting that it was a result of a murder. Detectives from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office were able to identify the deceased person and a person of interest in the case. The person of interest, R. W. Resca Jr., aged 53, confessed to the murder and admitted to disposing of the body, according to the sheriff’s office.
