Two Men Shot at in Delhi’s Tilak Nagar Market; Shooter Arrested

The Crime Branch in New Delhi has arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident in Tilak Nagar market. The alleged shooter, identified as Gautam, claimed to have had an argument with one of the victims over a woman before resorting to indiscriminate firing. Gautam was apprehended in Sonipat, Haryana, and was found in possession of a pistol.

The incident occurred in the early hours of November 18 when the victims, Digvijay alias Sajan and Vikas alias Vicky, arrived at Tilak Nagar market with their friends. Upon seeing Gautam with two female companions, Sajan recognized him and instructed Vikas to stop the car. Both victims approached Gautam, who then drew out a pistol and shot at them. Gautam fled the scene after the shooting.

Sajan and Vikas sustained three gunshot wounds each and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The police recovered four empty cartridges from the crime scene. According to Ravindra Singh Yadav, the special commissioner of police (crime), Gautam claimed that Sajan had been in a previous relationship with one of the women accompanying him. An argument ensued between the two men regarding this woman, leading Gautam to open fire.

The police are currently verifying Gautam’s testimony and investigating the motive behind the shooting. The arrest of the alleged shooter brings hope for justice to the victims and their families. Incidents of gun violence, especially over personal disputes, continue to be a cause for concern in the city.
