Tragic Murder-Suicide in Danbury Claims Lives of Dheraldy Caldeira and Unidentified Woman

DANBURY, CT – A man and a woman were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide, according to Danbury police. The man, identified as 29-year-old Dheraldy Caldeira, allegedly killed the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed.

Authorities were called to an apartment on Griffing Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. on Monday for a “crisis intervention” situation. While en route, the police were informed that it could potentially be a suicide case. Upon their arrival, they discovered the Fire Department and emergency medical personnel already present at the scene.

Emergency responders had entered the apartment before the police arrived and discovered the lifeless bodies of a 21-year-old woman and Caldeira. Fortunately, a toddler who was also present did not appear to be harmed. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, the child was taken to Danbury Hospital for evaluation, which revealed no visible injuries.

Based on the evidence and the findings of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, it appears that Caldeira killed the woman before taking his own life. The police confirmed that the two were in a domestic relationship, categorizing the incident as a distressing example of domestic violence. A large kitchen knife was reportedly used as the weapon in the fatal attack.
