Tragic Accident Claims the Life of 9-Year-Old Son of Senior Police Officer

Tragedy Strikes as SUV Speeding at 150 km/hr Kills 9-Year-Old Boy in Lucknow

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 9-year-old boy was killed on Tuesday morning when an SUV traveling at a high speed of 150 km/hour allegedly hit him on the G20 road near Janeshwar Mishra Park in Gomtinagar Extension, Lucknow. The incident occurred at around 5.30 am. The two accused, who were joyriding in the SUV, have been arrested.

After the news of the tragic incident went viral on social media, the police formed five teams to apprehend the culprits. The arrests were made in the evening with the help of CCTV footage. The accused have been identified as 20-year-old Sarthak Singh, an LLB student, and his 22-year-old friend Devshri Verma, a B Tech student. Both are residents of Indiranagar. Sarthak was driving the SUV at the time of the accident. They have been booked under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

According to police officials, the SUV involved in the accident belonged to Anshul Verma, a prominent jeweler from Kanpur and the uncle of Devshri Verma. The accused were allegedly competing with each other to reach a speed of 150 km/hour, taking turns driving the vehicle. The victim, identified as Namish, was practicing skating under the supervision of his coach Gaurav Kumar when the SUV struck him near pole number 40 on the G20 road.

Namish, a third-grade student at St Francis College in Gomtinagar Extension, was rushed to Sahara Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The incident has caused shock and grief among the local community and the police fraternity. DGP Vijaya Kumar, Special DGP Prashant Kumar, and Lucknow CP SB Shiradkar visited the grieving mother, who is a senior police officer, to offer their condolences.

The police successfully apprehended the accused by analyzing CCTV footage from various locations, including Janeshwar Mishra Park and several crossings in the area. The SUV has been seized, and further investigations are underway.
