Father and Daughter Killed in Tragic Car Crash in Accomack County, Virginia

A devastating car crash claimed the lives of a father and his teenage daughter on Tuesday in Accomack County, Virginia. The victims have been identified as 69-year-old Augusto Santos Aguilar and 17-year-old Allyssa Marie Aguilar, both from Tampa, Florida.

According to Virginia State Police spokesperson Sgt. Michelle Anaya, the accident occurred on Route 13 when Aguilar, who was driving a 2021 Mazda sedan, inexplicably crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2021 Freightliner. Aguilar was rushed to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. His daughter, Allyssa, who was seated in the rear, died instantly upon impact.

Aguilar’s wife and mother of Allyssa, who was seated in the front, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the driver of the Freightliner, a 63-year-old man from Henrico, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident took place at around 4:16 p.m. along the 16200 block of Lankford Highway in Nelsonia. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the police.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of two lives. Friends and family members are coming together to support the Aguilar family during this difficult time.
