Colorado Man Suspected of Triple Homicide Arrested in New Mexico

A Colorado man suspected of killing three people and seriously injuring a fourth over a property line dispute has been apprehended in New Mexico. Hanme K. Clark, 45, was taken into custody by the New Mexico State Police and U.S. Marshals near Albuquerque, according to Custer County, Colorado, Sheriff Rich Smith.

Fortunately, no one was harmed during Clark’s arrest, which took place on Tuesday. Clark’s girlfriend was reportedly with him in the Dodge Ram pickup at the time. He is now awaiting extradition back to Colorado, where he faces three counts of first-degree murder.

The shooting incident occurred on Monday around 1 p.m. in a wooded area about eight miles northeast of Westcliffe, approximately 75 miles southeast of Colorado Springs. Authorities discovered two men and a woman shot dead at the scene, while a fourth victim, a woman in critical condition, was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs. Fortunately, she is expected to survive her injuries.

During a news conference, Sheriff Smith expressed his hope that Clark’s arrest would bring relief to the neighborhood and the community, as well as closure to the families and friends of the victims.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Department revealed that Clark and one of the victims had been engaged in an ongoing dispute over their property lines. A surveyor who was present during the shooting managed to escape unharmed.

The deceased victims have been identified as Robert Geers, 63, his wife, Beth Wade Geers, 73, and James Daulton, 58. The lone survivor is Patty Daulton, James Daulton’s wife.

The arrest of Hanme K. Clark brings some solace to the affected community, but the investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing.
